Hong Kong, March 27-28, 2024 – Dr. Shuhao Wen, Co-founder and Chairman of XtalPi (2228.HK), participated in the Fortune Innovation Forum as a panelist for the session “Unlocking Asia’s AI Potential.” The event brought together over 60 global leaders, including Hong Kong SAR Financial Secretary Paul Chan, HKEX CEO Bonnie Chan, and former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers, to explore the transformative role of AI in shaping the future of industries.

Asia’s AI Opportunity
With Asia accounting for over half of the world’s internet users and projected AI investments of $78.4 billion by 2027, the panel discussed how AI can drive tangible business outcomes. Dr. Wen shared the stage with Scott Beaumont, President of Google Asia Pacific; Jennifer Zhu Scott, Founding Partner of IN Capital; and Curtis Kim, CEO of Kakao Brain.

XtalPi’s Journey and Vision
Dr. Wen reflected on XtalPi’s evolution from its founding vision of becoming a “search engine for microscopic matter structures” to its current position as a leader in AI-driven drug discovery. Key milestones include:

  • Securing investment and technical collaboration with Google in 2018.
  • Developing proprietary automated chemical synthesis laboratories with hundreds of robotic workstations globally.
  • Partnering with industry giants like Pfizer and Lilly while expanding into petrochemicals, renewable energy, and bio-based materials.

“AI and robotics are becoming as essential as water and electricity in driving innovation across industries,” Dr. Wen noted. “By leveraging China’s supply chain advantages, companies like XtalPi can accelerate growth and contribute to the global innovation ecosystem.”

Hong Kong’s Role in Innovation
Highlighting Hong Kong’s strengths, Dr. Wen emphasized its world-class research institutions, favorable tax policies for top talent, and internationally recognized clinical data standards. As a global financial hub within the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong is poised to bridge Chinese innovation with global capital.

A Platform for Global Dialogue
The forum covered a wide range of topics, from macroeconomics and financial investment to AI, electric vehicles, and biotechnology, fostering meaningful exchanges among thought leaders shaping the global economic landscape.
